In his work Raphael Caric concentrates on merging classical elements of fashion with functional parts in almost military Aesthetics. Emanating from this fundament, he abstracts his drafts in an experimental way, using new and mostly self devised techniques, that finally leads to an essence used in the finished product. Watching his mother, Esther Frommann a costume and set designer, he learned at young age to use and stage the mechanisms and effects of dress in a subtle way. Therefore Raphael’s design often inherits a substantial amount of theatrical character: Statement-Pieces. Always approaching the border line between fashion, art, and modern technology Raphael aims to overcome the limitations of the industry.
